We assessed the market for RTX 2070 laptops and narrowed them down to the top, with the ASUS ROG Strix Scar III being our overall best RTX 2080 laptop for 2024.
ASUS ROG continue to rock the gaming laptop scene with the Strix Scar III. It holds up as a powerful compact laptop with comparable power to a pre-built gaming PC.
First of all, it has the best RGB lighting I’ve ever seen on a laptop. It feels like a cyberpunk device in your hands thanks to its retro great neon colors and eye-catching light movement. I would say this competes against the Razer Blade RGB. As for specs, you’ll get a RTX 2070: Intel Core i9-9880H CPU, 32GB of RAM and 240 Hz refresh rate. 240Hz is nice to have for competitive gaming, but do not expect to be pushing 240 FPS on the latest AAA games.

The Helios 300 was one of the Top 10 Bestselling Gaming Laptops back in July 2024 for numerous reasons: power, affordability and durability. Arguably, this is the best Acer Predator ever made, and worth every penny.
You will not find any better gaming laptop in its price range. In fact, it is the best you can buy value wise in this category. It is considered a “budget gaming laptop” yet it performs amazingly on triple-A games. The Helios 300 can run Apex Legends and CoD Modern Warfare at steady rates of 85-90 fps with settings on high, and can push 100 fps if you activate Turbo mode. It is also the lightest Predator ever made, compared to its predecessors. The only major downside here are the fans; they sound like miniature industrial air vents. All in all, it’s a great RTX 2070 gaming laptop for the price, if you’re on a tighter budget see our best 1000 dollar gaming laptops for 2024.
A strong contender in the RTX 2070 gaming laptop category, the GX701 proves its worth with stellar key specs and a large 17″ screen. It is everything you can ever hope for in an RTX 2070… for a high price, of course.
The Zephyrus S GX701 has the largest screen in all of the laptops in this category; every other laptop uses a 15.6″ screen but this one has 17.3′, allowing you to see the high quality textures and highly-rendered models clearly. Not only is the GX701 powerful but it’s thin and light too – almost too light for a high-profile gaming laptop. It is made with top-tier specs for an expensive gaming laptop: 144 Hz refresh rate, 1080p, 3ms response time, G-Sync activation, 1TB SSD, full 1080p 60 fps webcam, i7-8750H and 24GB of RAM.
Zephyrus S has minor flaws but there’s a big annoyance here: the trackpad is on the right hand side and the keyboard is further back in the chassis – so balancing it on your lap (which you shoudln’t be doing) was not an option for us. But, despite its weird trackpad placement, it’s still a great laptop. The Blade series is Razer’s flagship gaming laptop, always saving it as the best for last. We saved the best for last (If you’re a Razer fan!), with the Razer Blade 4K 15.6″. The Blade has the power for 4K gaming and looks extremely clean and subtle (which we like).
Razer Blade is at its best in its RTX 2080 form but if you’re looking for the same model but cheaper, the Blade also includes a 2070 version. Keep in mind that this models monitor has a lower refresh rate (144Hz is still plenty) but almost the same specs as the Blade RTX 2080. Of course, playing at 4K has its consequences: once at 4K, you can only run the game from 30 to 60 fps. But, if you’re not playing competitive games this should be fine (and if you are, you will be lowering your resolution).
Overall, it’s a great gaming laptop, and if you’re looking for a subtle, light machine with enough power for 4K + Ray Tracing , then we recommend the Razer Blade 4K, and if you’re on a much tighter budget see our review of the best gaming laptops under 800 dollars.
On par with the Razer Blade is the Gigabyte AERO 15. With a polished aluminium finish, 4K OLED display, beefy performance, and ergonomic keyboard, the AERO 15 is an excellent OLED laptop at a reasonable price.
The Gigabyte Aero 15 monitor resolution can increase to 4K, although that will cause major performance issues, lowering frames on modern AAA games all the way down to 20 fps. However, at 1080p, everything feels butter smooth.
Two major flaws here, though: the camera placement at the bottom part of the screen and the RGB keyboard lighting. No seriously, who thought it was a good idea to put the camera underneath the screen?
If the camera is not a deal breaker, then this is still one of the best gaming laptops available in 2024.
For most gamers the Acer Predator Helios 300 would be our recommendation for the overall best RTX 2070 laptop. It’s affordable yet it is so powerful, you’d forget why it was considered a “budget gaming laptop” in the first place. Sure, we’d pick the ASUS ROG Strix but not everyone can afford it.
If your budget allows, we would grab the ASUS ROG Strix Scar III, it is an amazing looking machine with a high build quality and powerful enough for the latest games. The Strix III is our best high-end RTX 2070 gaming laptop.
